1. Introduction
Welcome to Dog Eared Books ("we," "our," or "us"). These Terms and Conditions govern your use of our website and services at dogearedbooks.co.za. By accessing or using our platform, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.
2. About Our Service
Dog Eared Books is an online marketplace that connects buyers and sellers of used school textbooks in South Africa. We facilitate transactions but are not directly involved in the sale of books between users. We provide a platform for listing, discovering, and purchasing second-hand educational materials.
3. User Accounts
3.1. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Users under 18 must have parental or guardian consent.
3.2. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
3.3. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration.
3.4. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
4. For Sellers
4.1. Sellers must accurately describe the condition of books being sold.
4.2. All listed books must be genuine and not counterfeit or pirated copies.
4.3. Sellers must ship books within 3 business days of receiving an order confirmation.
4.4. Sellers are responsible for packaging books securely to prevent damage during transit.
4.5. We reserve the right to remove listings that violate our policies or misrepresent products.
5. For Buyers
5.1. Buyers must pay for purchased items promptly through our secure payment system.
5.2. Buyers should review book descriptions and photos carefully before purchasing.
5.3. Delivery is via PAXI points. Buyers must collect their orders within 7 days of arrival notification.
5.4. Any disputes should be reported within 48 hours of receiving the item.
6. Payments
6.1. All payments are processed securely through Paystack.
6.2. Prices are listed in South African Rand (ZAR) and include VAT where applicable.
6.3. Shipping costs are included in the listed price (free shipping).
6.4. Seller payouts are processed after successful delivery confirmation.
7. Shipping & Delivery
7.1. We use PAXI as our delivery partner for all shipments within South Africa.
7.2. Standard delivery time is 7-9 business days.
7.3. Buyers will receive WhatsApp notifications with tracking information.
7.4. We are not responsible for delays caused by PAXI or circumstances beyond our control.
8. Prohibited Items
The following items may not be listed on Dog Eared Books:
- Counterfeit or pirated books
- Books with missing pages or severe damage (unless clearly disclosed)
- Items other than educational books and materials
- Stolen property
- Any illegal materials
9. Intellectual Property
All content on Dog Eared Books, including logos, designs, text, and graphics, is our intellectual property or that of our licensors. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.
10. Limitation of Liability
10.1. Dog Eared Books acts as a marketplace facilitator and is not responsible for the quality, safety, or legality of items listed.
10.2. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of our services.
10.3. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the specific transaction in dispute.
11. Dispute Resolution
Any disputes between users should first be attempted to resolve through our customer support via WhatsApp. If unresolved, disputes will be governed by the laws of South Africa and subject to the jurisdiction of South African courts.
12. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes via WhatsApp or website notification. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
